We are seeking an energetic, motivated Principal Security Architect to join the Information Security team, and to work across our Engineering and Operations teams to provide security requirements, development and operational support, design reviews, code reviews for the software and processes that operate our global service platform.

You will be responsible for anticipating threats to Akamais global infrastructure, and developing requirements and designs for security solutions to protect Akamai and its customers. The ideal candidate looks forward to new challenges every single day, and understands how best to improve security postures in multiple environments.
* Establishment and advocacy for security principles and universal requirements for internal and externally deployed systems
* Review of designs and systems with emphasis on security and reliability
* Management of long-running projects whose teams comprise individuals from different organizations
* Management of security incidents from discovery through resolution, and tracking completion of related action items
* Design and/or development prototyping of security tools, workarounds, and systems

Required Skills:
* BS required, MS, PhD a plus with 5+ years of professional experience with team-oriented software development
* Expert in security architectures and design principles
* Experience in successful management of cross-organization projects
* In-depth understanding of security principles as they relate to software and networks (CISSP highly desirable)
* Ability to quickly learn the fundamentals of new technology and consistently evaluate its security needs according to policy, best practice, precedent, and business needs
* Clear communication skills, including the ability to assemble and give design presentations to an audience of other architects, who will provide critical feedback during the requirements gathering, design, and development stages of a products lifecycle
* Be able to read, review, and extend existing software to add minor features; ability to make use of existing libraries of code to reduce development cycle time and code replication
* Possess a strong understanding of cryptographic primitives and how they are appropriately applied to secure communication
* Significant prior interaction with customers a plus
