Principal Software Engineer

Overview: As a Principle Software Engineer for Digitas you?ll be expected to perform a leadership role within an interdisciplinary team that creates world class data driven internet based solutions. Primarily responsible for the success of all technical and functional aspects of a given project, you?ll be the technical lead from project inception though the design and technical approach phases, implementation, quality assurance and ultimately launch and maintenance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Job Experience
5 to 10 years of web programming and architecture experience
Proven track record as a technical team leader
Extensive experience with the design and development of data driven web based applications

 

Skills
Expert in Java (Java Programmer Certified desirable)
Proficient in servlets, JSP
Proficient in XML and it?s role and application in complex software projects
Expert in Database technologies; possessing knowledge of databases, database design, data modeling (logical and physical) and performance issues; SQL; JDBC
Expert understanding of software engineering methodologies; ability to driving good software engineering practices
Expert in at least two of the following and conversant in several: personalization, dynamic messaging systems, ecommerce servers, security, networking, legacy system integration, email
Proven ability to take leadership in proposing, researching and implementing creative technology solutions
Expert in HTML, CSS development
Proficient in both UNIX and Windows environments
Expert knowledge in testing methodologies; Design testable software from the beginning; Design effective and reliable test cases;
General understanding of user interfaces and how they effect applications design
Advanced expertise in the authoring of technical requirements and the requirements definition process;
Excellent time management skills
Excellent communication skills

 

Responsibilities
Perform the lead technical role in designing and implementing practical, maintainable project solutions
Maintain a consistent focus on quality for the entire project
Perform code reviews; developing and adhering to coding standards
Stays abreast of ever emerging technologies and techniques
Stays abreast of ever evolving web standards
Encourage team awareness and appropriate adoption of emerging technologies
Mentor more junior team members in utilized technical skills
Work with other departments to ensure high quality and timely delivery
Work comfortably within an dynamic challenging environment within the parameters of delivery deadlines
Maintain open lines of communication relating to the status of a given projects and its risks and challenges
Become a recognized subject matter expert within their fields of expertise
