Rich Internet Application Developer

Create cutting-edge media-based, data-driven Rich Internet Applications using ActionScript, PHP, and MySQL.  Develop new data types, display conventions, and experiment with human-computer interaction.

 

GroundWork Design, the leader in content-managed Rich Media Applications for the higher education industry, seeks a Junior Developer to augment its staff of developers and information architects.

 

Role Details:

Work on a project basis to create application logic and behavior for Rich Media Applications and Presentations based on Flash, ActionScript, and soon to be Flex 2.

 

Take project requirements/specifications from Information Architect as well as UI designs from designers to create functional client-side web applications.

 

Required Knowledge:

ActionScript 2.0/3.0 || Advanced JavaScript || Advanced Generalized ECMAScript

Programming with a Class/Component/Module architecture (Java || C/C++ || ActionScript)

Basic PHP (willingness to learn more)

Basic MySQL || Oracle (willingness to learn more of both)

Looking for recent college graduates or those with < 2 years work experience.

 

Advanced knowledge of ActionScript and Flash is not required.  Object-Oriented Programming and class structures are the important skills.

 

Being motivated to learn, explore, and be in an unexplored area of development are all essential characteristics.

 

Ideal applicants will have scripted in Flash extensively, and have had experience with PHP/MySQL web applications.

GroundWork Design, Inc. was incorporated in 1997 as Intelli-Com, Inc.  In this early period, the company built PCs, trained on the use of applications, and consulted on business processes.  In 2001, GroundWork created the first content-managed, data-driven Rich Media application to be used higher education, the Tour Experience Engine.  Since that time, we have pioneered user-centric and media-rich ways to share information with a variety of audiences through our tour presentations for higher education and other industries.  GroundWork specializes in ?natural data structures? and determining ways to display them in user applications.  Applications are currently developed on our home-grown CMS, ACME, and support a variety of ?compound media types? and interface conventions.
