SR. MANAGER, CONSUMER BEHAVIOR ANALYTICS

Art.com, a pre-IPO, profitable and rapidly growing Emeryville-based e-commerce company, recognized by Internet Retailer as one of the Top 50 Web Sites for 2004, has an opening for a Senior Manager of Consumer Behavior Analytics.

 

Art.com is looking for an outstanding candidate with a strong background in business intelligence and analytics to oversee customer behavior analytics across the portfolio of art.com brands.  This candidate would help design and manage a customer data warehouse, and extensively analyze this data to help resolve key branding and strategic issues.  Leadership, innovative thinking, self-motivation, driving towards results and a strong work ethic are a must, as is the ability to have fun in a challenging and demanding environment.  This position will report into the VP of Corporate Strategy and Consumer Insights.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Owns tracking, analyzing and reporting on prospect and customer behaviors across the portfolio of brands to support strategic and brand decision-making.  Continuous and ad hoc analysis to include customer behavior by segments (e.g., clustering, demographics, psychographics), customer profitability, cross-brand shopping, lifetime customer value, customer lifecycle management and prospecting opportunities.Partners with IT and customer-facing sales teams to design a robust customer data warehouse which incorporates functionality necessary to analyze customer and prospects Owns functional requirements for and partners with IT to manage customer data warehouse ongoing, including interfacing with other databases/software (e.g., order database, CRM function, customer segmentation, site navigation behavior).  Leads and drives incorporation of additional functionality over time as needed.Effectively works across departments to prioritize customer behavior analysis requests, communicate findings and identify actionable recommendations for the businessAnalyzes and distills customer behavior data into the most salient insights and effectively links these to potential impact/opportunity for the business, including brand positioningAnalyzes site navigation data (Core Metrics) as needed to test behavioral hypotheses Supports consumer insights in design, execution and analysis of online surveys, consumer and brand tracking as neededViewed internally as customer behavior analysis and testing expert who provides guidance and best practices expertise to key business partners around scoping, designing, executing, and analyzing customer behavioral tests (e.g., A/B testing, testing for statistical significance)Develops a team culture of innovation, focusing on recommendations and results

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

 6+ years experience in designing, managing and analyzing data warehousesExtensive experience in advanced data analysis techniques and statistical methods, including data modeling, customer segmentation, customer lifecycle modeling, lifetime customer value, querying and reporting tools, metrics reporting, prospecting, business intelligence, clustering analysis, factor analysis, conjoint analysis, A/B testing and statistical significanceExperienced in executing and analyzing online surveysDemonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and with teams interchangeablyStrong project management skills and ability to effectively juggle multiple projects at one timeDemonstrated ability to think strategically; turn consumer behavior data into effective strategies and drive resultsExceptional problem-solving and data analysis skills; uses a hypothesis-driven approach to explore issues and possesses a meticulous attention to detailAbility to be objective in analysis and share learnings constructivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills; someone who is likable, a team builder, and has the personality to be effective across multiple divisions Good consensus builder, understands others quickly, can find common ground without compromising total positionDemonstrated experience in effecting changeDesire to learn with an insatiable curiosity, has creative and entrepreneurial visionInterest in/knowledge of the art marketUndergraduate degree required
