Description The Senior Designer produces creative, comprehensive layout and design for client deliverables. This role requires complex conceptualization of ideas in preparation of original art for print or electronic documents. This professional maintains advanced design skills and a broad knowledge of current design and production techniques; offers conceptual design and production solutions to internal and external customers based on strategies in relation to client business needs; manages and oversees complex design projects from concept through production; effectively prioritizes and assigns work; manages multiple priorities simultaneously; and plans and schedules resources to meet client commitments and deadlines. The Senior Designer serves as a Creative Services Group project manager and works effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Develop leading-edge designs and innovative ideas for client deliverables. Create layouts with strong typography and appropriate use of color, images and fonts, allowing for readability of type. Create interactive presentations or proposals using a variety of software tools. Develop complex concepts for packaging design, and carry through with the construction of ideas. Utilize styles, master pages, templates, tracking, kerning and leading in an effective manner.

Maintain expertise with graphics software tools, and proficiency in the firm-standard loadset and equipment required of the position (including, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, etc.).

Utilize advanced knowledge for troubleshooting technical issues in graphic files for pre-press and printing -- linking graphics, including fonts, and creating color separations.

Develop, document and share best practices, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques, equipment, and developments within the design community.

Think strategically to relate design work to the client's business needs. Influence a client to choose an effective design, and design within budget requirements.

Facilitate project meetings and discussions relating to project costs, timelines and appropriate graphics methods/techniques to meet project requirements.

Define the project scope and cost estimates. Negotiate project deadlines to create timelines. Schedule changes for client approval.

Assist in establishing vendor lists. Develop and maintain vendor relationships, and work with external vendors regarding the coordination of production for external products and services.

Raise awareness and support the firm's brand.

Act as an advisor/coach in a peer mentor role or as a subject matter expert. Train other senior designers, designers and document specialists in the use of design principles, as well as in the use of specific design tools.

Pursue and share best practices within the department and among Enterprise Support Services (ESS)/Creative Services Group (CSG) staff.

Utilize the CSG database to document time and material costs, project instructions, client interactions, and to create timelines and cost estimates for client approval.

Travel to a client site or other CSG location as part of a project team to provide designs, conceptualization and solutions pertaining to deliverables.

Qualifications

The incumbent of this position must have:

Education: a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience

Experience: a minimum of 5+ years of relatedgraphics experience experience in the use of standardized software and hardware applications, including, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash Working knowledge of Word, Excel

Skills: excellent customer service as well as design and conceptualization skills strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills
