Senior IMD Ops Engineer

Description: This position reports to the Manager, Information Management and Delivery Operations (IMD Ops), and provides support in the areas of change and problem management, deployment services, version control, scheduling, operations, system monitoring and technical support across all Information Management applications and platforms.

The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to
o Contribute to the selection, prototyping, implementation and support of tools such as capacity planning, job scheduling, and system monitoring.
o Assist and support the review, development, and implementation of strategies that preserve the integrity, availability, stability, and scalability of IMD systems.
o Work with internal and external technical teams to assist and implement innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to architectural goals and principles.
o Work directly with other teams in IMD to create, review and implement operational tasks for software upgrades and outages.
o Ongoing corrective and preventative maintenance to improve reliability and availability for systems managed by IMD Ops.
o Assist in the preparation of proposals, reports, architectures, designs, specifications, and operational documentation.
o Support Teradata systems backup using Netbackup and other internallly developed software/hardware solution.
o Support basic UNIX scripting and Operational tasks.
o Work directly with resources from Networking, Information Security and other support teams to setup and configure new systems and troublsehoot issues with existing systems.
o Work with remote teams and on site teams to support application software on Terminal Servers in IMD.
o Support Informatica, Appworx and other tools within IMD.
o Perform training and be on-call to investigate batch job failures due to operational issues and assist in restoring functionality.
o Work with internal ticketing systems to resolve tickets for requested work on IMD systems.
o Work with other IMD teams to configure, setup and upgrade software installed on IMD systems such as ODBC drivers on UNIX and Windows paltform and other client applications.

This position must communicate effectively orally and in writing with all eBay technical personnel and application developers involved in the development and maintenance of enterprise applications and platforms. In addition, the incumbent must work well with site operations and IT managers.

Qualifications:
o Experience with versioning, change control, problem management and creating and working with detailed job schedules.
o Solid experience with monitoring and analyzing production applications such as Appworx, Informatica and UNIX servers.
o Basic scripting skills in UNIX shells scripts, PERL is prefferred.
o Strong technical skills required.
o Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus.
o Strong focus on Customer interface.
o Application experience with Informatica/Appworx and other ETL and scheduling tools a plus.
o Strong analytical skills a must.
o Ability to get to root cause analysis independently and recommend resolution for operational issues with applications.
