Senior Software Engineer—Web Development

The work you do as part of a small cross-functional team will have a dramatic impact on the future of Netflix and entertainment distribution.

As a key member of the team that develops Cinematch, our movie recommendation engine, you will be helping design and build the world?s best movie finding software. Our goal is to know our customers? movie tastes well enough to create the perfect store, always presenting titles just right for them.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who has a background in designing and deploying highly threaded web applications written in Java. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, intellectually curious individual who takes pride in coding highly complex, real time web applications. You?ll work on the customer-facing side of Cinematch, building tools to make it easy for them to tell us their tastes and how they change, then showing them the movies we suggest, all in the blink of an eye.

Responsibilities:
? Co-designing and developing the Netflix web application focused on personalization software
? Full software life-cycle ownership of key strategic business logic from inception through production
? Conceiving, articulating and implementing projects in coordination with technical and non-technical coworkers for product enhancement and improvement

? 5+ years of Java web application development experience
? Experience with high-traffic, highly scaling, multi-threaded software design
? Experience with MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent database system
? Flexibility to shift priorities based on changing needs of the business
? A Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent engineering
? Familiarity with C/C++, Perl, and the joy of emacs preferred
