Sr. Windows Systems Administrator

Do you have the drive?  Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information, is currently seeking for a few Sr. Windows Systems Administrators, who will play a key role supporting applications to join our Technical Operations team.

 

Sure, our name ends in ".com" but we were founded as a publishing corporation 19 years before our Web site was even launched!  While Edmunds.com has the best consumer automotive content on the Web, we?re more than just an ?Internet? company.  Our comprehensive set of data, tools and services are also licensed to third parties and used by over 15,000 car dealers.  We also supply content for the auto sections of AOL, CNN.com, NYTimes.com and About.com.

 

Major Responsibilities: Support all Windows applications that the corporation uses during its day to day operations. (Exchange, AD, SMS, DHCP, WINS, etc.) Participate in 24x7 on-call support for the company?s Windows corporate infrastructure. Actively participate in the development and improvement of a monitoring system(s). Help architect, design, implement and document all services making up the IS infrastructure. Develop and implement plans for deploying new services in a highly available and automated environment. Help lead the company to a fully proactive, automated and homogeneous desktop environment. Play Leadership role in project planning, design and implementation of new services and applications.Be knowledge expert on third party applications. Maintain effective working relationships with other IT Staff members, internal customers and technical staff at collocation providers. Maintain professional relationships with all vendors. Mentor junior staff on relevant technologies and best practices. Ability to anticipate and proactively manage issues before they become major problems. Be a proactive member of team looking for improvements in technologies and efficiencies. Provide tier 2 desktop support.

Required Skills: In-depth technical knowledge of and experience with Windows XP and 2003 Server operating systems running standard Windows infrastructure applications.  Exchange Admin 2003, Windows AD, SMS or like.Technical knowledge of and experience with the Linux operating system & supporting applications.Experience with and support of Internet technologies.Experience with collocation facilities and data centers.Experience with production oriented policies and procedures. Ability to be a member of a close-knit team that shares responsibilities for all areas it supports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce usable and maintainable documentation. Experience working with ticketing systems and rigorous change management processes. Demonstrate problem solving abilities and initiative. Ability to deliver projects on schedule. Strong knowledge of networking as it relates to systems and security. Ability to provide a professional interface to internal and external customers and vendors.



Minimum Qualifications 5+ years experience administering Windows servers and applications. 3+ years experience administering Linux servers & applications.Bachelors degree from accredited university. Must be available to be on-call and be prepared to work outside of normal business hours under certain circumstances.



Preferred Skills Experience supporting Mac OS X in windows-centric environment. Experience with open source applications either on Linux or Windows OS. Experience with Linux and Internet technologies. MSCE or other credentials. Strong scripting and automation experience. Experience with the ITIL framework. Network Operations experience. Operational experience with Oracle 9i and 10g databases on Linux. Operational experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware on Linux.Must understand risk management practices and how they apply to service level agreements.
