Technical Writer / Business Analyst

Position Description: 

The Business Analyst is responsible for working with Product Management, Product Development, and users to define and document product and business systems requirements. Responsibilities include facilitating requirements gathering and design sessions, reviewing requirement and design documentation with users and developers, preparing process and data models, prioritizing system functionality based on requirements, and documenting product capabilities and limitations for both internal and external clients.

 

Key Duties: 

-  Master the functional and technical aspects of the StoreFront platform

-  Act as a technical writer / documentation specialist to gather and define product requirements and work with development on the creation of requirements documents

-  Work with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Development, QA, others) to monitor progress and provide direction/feedback on current and future development efforts

-  Help create and maintain product help systems and user documentation

-  Create internal and external training materials and assist with product training for company employees, end users, and partners

-  Assist in the development of web content, product demos, marketing materials and sales collateral

-  Assist with market research, competitive analysis, and customer surveys

 

Qualifications:

 

-  BS or Associate?s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

-  3+ years experience working as a business systems analyst, QA analyst, technical writer, documentation specialist, or project manager in an information technology environment

-  Strong understanding of key e-commerce concepts, including user experience behaviors, payment processing, tax and shipping, security, web analytics, etc.

-  Knowledge of the product / software development lifecycle

-  Strong technical experience and background with software / IT development or software / IT consulting firm

-  Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, and work under deadlines

-  Experience with Microsoft Project, Visio, Word, Excel, and related tools

-  Basic familiarity with .NET technologies, especially dealing with web development; ASP.Net, VB.Net and JavaScript

-  Basic familiarity with XML and related technologies like XPath, XSD, DTD and XSLT

-  Basic familiarity with relational database systems, particularly MS SQL Server 2000

-  Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

-  Strong technical writing skills

-  Demonstrated decision making, analytical and problem solving skills

-  Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
