Web Support Specialist #2085

Purpose of Position

 

The Web Support Specialist is primarily responsible for page building, promotional support, and html development.  This involves working with web team members, the company photographer, outside advertising agencies, web site vendor, and other departments to help create, manage, and maintain company web sites (including the corporate site, brand sites, specialized sub-sites, and third-party partner sites) and tie-ins to promotional materials.  The Web Support Specialist also monitors and implements new media technologies to enrich quality of customer experience on web sites, including incorporating the Content Management System where applicable to modify the corporate web site. Additional responsibilities include the upkeep of the Web site through content management system as well as strategic input on page design, keyword inclusion, and page search engine optimization.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

?  Works with Web team and marketing to implement and maintain web site  static pages and files, incorporating the Content Management System, HTML, etc.

?  Works with e-Business team to create web site page templates.

?  Monitors, suggests, and implements new media technologies (e.g. streaming video, Flash, Hotmedia, etc.) on web sites to enrich customer experience.

?  Ability to edit content and transition materials into a Web ready format

?  Evaluates on-line advertising and related promotional materials for consistency in design and message, working closely with internal marketing team, outside advertising agencies and business unit personnel.

?  Assists e-business team in promotional activities, trouble-shooting, e-Business campaigns, etc.

?  Interacts with all individuals in company who desire an understanding of web activities and promotes understanding of web and e-commerce efforts outside of department.

?  Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines including rush requirements

?  Maintains/improves professional and technical skills by reading trade journals, books, and other publications, and attend seminars and professional meetings. 

?  Other duties as assigned.

 

Desired Background and Skill Requirements

 

?  BA/BFA in Web Design, Web development/programming or equivalent experience.

?  Two or more years experience designing, creating, and producing on-line marketing content and pages.

?  Proficiency with web design software, including Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Flash, content management software and other applicable software

?  Strong knowledge of HTML and interactive media design techniques/issues.  Knowledge of scripting languages - JavaScript highly desirable.

?  General knowledge of PC platforms, applications, and peripherals, including third-party plug-in hardware, external hard drives, and CD ROM burners. 

?  Understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform HTML/DHTML issues, such as browser variances and different user experiences with different platforms, technological capabilities/limitations, etc.

?  Understanding of general promotional, branding and positioning concepts; and digital photography.

?  Ability to create/implement design layouts and supporting graphics for web formats.
