Web User Experience Consultant

Job Summary:
Define and drive the improvement of the end-user experience for all of Premera's external web sites, support all lines of business for the company. Users include providers, employers, brokers, members, visitors and other users of the company's many web sites. Work with all levels of management and staff in a heavily customer-focused role, specializing in web user experience design.

Responsibilities:
1. Customer Contact
- Work with key stakeholders to define the optimal user experience for various web portals, leveraging eBusiness team's and external vendor usability testing results and research with end users.
- Work with stakeholders to incorporate user experience considerations in web site strategy development and to define metrics that will measure adoption, and design analytic programs that will provide stakeholders with actionable data to drive product development direction. Provide Portal Owners with regular reporting of web usage information.
- Partner with Market Research, Advertising and Promotions, Document Administration and other departments relevant to user experience design.
2. User Experience
- Drive information architecture, navigation design, interface design, information design, and label design for the company's web sites.
- Drive research of end users and their experiences with company web sites. Work closely with business stakeholders and Market Research to drive usability testing of specific portals. Produce reports of findings and improvement recommendations for resolution.
- Produce key deliverables and artifacts including site maps, wireframes, mock-ups, personas, task matrices, scenarios, paper prototypes, use cases, scripts, and functional specifications in support of portal features changes. Coordinate reviews and approvals with all relevant stakeholders.
- Work with other eBusiness team members to ensure usability considerations are addressed in production support problem resolution as well as fixes to problems encountered in testing.
- Develop user interface designs to support implementation of Work Requests for portal enhancements, or to support major eBusiness and corporate web initiatives.
- Contribute to user experience methodology, templates, and libraries of artifacts.
- Stay current with web user experience methodology trends for continuous process improvement within eBusiness.
- Champion the concept of user centered design and usability testing among business stakeholders, and support the adoption of methods by appropriate eBusiness team members such as product managers. Partner with Market Research for vendor usability testing of specific portals.
3. Web Analytics
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and web product managers to define metrics that provide visibility into the adoption and end-user behavior resulting from, or indicating the need for, usability improvements.
- Recommend improvements to web analytics program that support stakeholders' and web product managers' needs for understanding end-user behavior and adoption potential.
4. Project Management
- Provide leadership for small releases, and support large accounts with customized web content or functionality.
- Use and support company standard project management methodologies.
- Partner with Web Production area to plan releases and initiatives, including Work Request releases.
5. Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. A four-year degree; 6+ years of related experience in information architecture, web analytics, interface design, and/or usability testing.
2. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, and demonstrated leadership, facilitation and consensus-building skills.
