Job Description:
The webmaster will create, review, and modify web site and associated policies as necessary. Install, configure, administer, and maintain a collection of NT/.NET servers including test, development, staging, productions, database servers and web servers. Provide content navigation assessment, link analysis, and comprehensive web site traffic and performance analysis via browser-based web reporting. Assist CG Personnel with updating and publishing products and services on the Coast Guard Intranet/Internet sites. Configure and manage Coast Guard WEB Servers, to include configuring and installing the web server software and its components, monitoring and interpreting server performance data, statistical analysis of web server activity, troubleshooting server problems, installing and configuring the web authoring/management software, defining and maintaining an organized file structure, and maintaining security and assigning user access rights. Develop and/or support the creation of static and dynamic HTML including the use of ASP. Develop and integrate state of the art web applications technology including Java script, Java applets, VBScript, and ActiveX controls. Configure existing and new web pages to be compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Ensuring web pages are accessible for persons with disabilities. Develop and support both static and dynamic graphics with the use of Microsoft Image Composer. Work with the CG Personnel to create (and assist with the creation of) static and dynamic web pages. Work with the CG personnel to maintain LCCB home Page. Develop training classes on web authoring software and associated hardware and assist with setting up software and hardware for such classes. Provide training in a formal classroom environment and one-on-one basis. Provide enhanced web-based functionality including interactive calendars, discussion groups, bulletin boards, phone directory management, study and test applications, and supply/procurement and work-order request management systems. Provide content navigation assessment, link analysis, and comprehensive web-site traffic and performance analysis via browser-based web reporting. Test and evaluate web authoring software packages. Will diagnose system failure to isolate the source of problems between equipment, network, system software, and application programs.

Requires a four-year degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical discipline, and two (2) years experience in maintaining Internet/Intranet web servers, and designing web pages, or a minimum of six (6) years experience in maintaining Internet/Intranet web servers, and designing web pages. One year of system administration experience working with a multitasking, multi-user operating system (for example, Windows NT, Windows XP, UNIX, OS-2) in a client-server environment utilizing industry standard network protocols (for example, TCP/IP, NOVELL Netware). One-year experience with installing software, providing routine file management actions and remedial file system repairs, installing additional equipment as necessary. One year experience establishing and maintaining system backup routines.

An active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required for this position.
