CASINO SECURITY OFFICER

JOB TITLE: Security Officer   JOB SUMMARY :  Responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, patrons and all visitors.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Examples of duties include performing security patrols, enforcing Casino badge procedures, protecting property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire and accidents, investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations, provide any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors with the department's procedures, and may serve as training officer to new security staff, while maintaining and exhibiting excellent customer service. 


STARTING SALARY:$11.220 per hour     GRADE:  14
SYSTEM TITLE:  Security Officer


EXTENT OF JOB AUTHORITY:  Authority to observe and report all activities, incidents, or safety hazards according to Casino and Security Departmental policies and procedures.  Under the guidance of the Shift Manager, responds to emergency situations as they arise.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:  High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Formal security or law enforcement training, schooling or certification required; related on the job experience may be considered in lieu of formal training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations. Position requires considerable walking and working on feet to complete assigned shifts. The ability to stand and work on feet for 10 hours or longer per shift.  Must be able to lift up to seventy-five pounds (75 lbs.), occasionally higher than 75 lbs. with assistance. Neat, clean and professional appearance required at all times.

 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Applicants must portray an assertive, confident, and professional attitude when interacting with patrons and employees.  They must be capable of enforcing rules and regulations with diplomacy and tact. They must also be able to maintain their composure during stressful situations.  Critical thinking, awareness and problem solving ability are required in every aspect of your duties.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
Previous security, military or civilian police officer  training and/or experience required. A minimum of six months experience as a Parking Lot Attendant for the Muckleshoot Casino will meet required security or law enforcement experience.
Must have and maintain a valid Washington State Drivers License.
Ability to learn, comprehend and follow detailed security manual procedures and instructions.
Must have the ability to document incidents and write up reports in an accurate and legible manner.
The ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Physical ability to perform security officer duties.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must take a written report skills test.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES PERFORMED:
Observes and responds to emergencies, incidents, procedure violations, criminal, and other activities as they occur.
Documents and prepares accurate and complete written records and reports in response to incidents, procedure violations, or criminal activities as responded to, observed and/or witnessed.
Interacts with customers, vendors, suppliers, and employees to maintain a safe and friendly environment.
Safeguards property assets.
Responsible for proper handling of confidential information, reports, incidents, and materials.
Provides positive customer relations by assisting customers, vendors, suppliers, and employees as requested, needed, and required.
Required to complete various training programs, such as CPR, first aid, and defensive tactics, after hire.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
