Junior Software Engineer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

?  Develops software programs to facilitate the processing of automated citations for in house citation processors, customers, and other government agencies

?  Uses software tools to monitor the status of in-house servers and databases and to maintain the source control system(s) and the document management system(s)

?  Works collaboratively and amicably with peers to support the Nestor?s activities in strategic planning, business development, sales and account management

?  Provides support for proposal development to identify new product capabilities to meet customer requirements

?  Takes complete technical responsibility for multiple, complex, enterprise systems and services

?  Establishes standards and polices for projects

?  Directly involved with all aspects of software development: system architecture and design, programming, code review, project management

?  Establishes and maintains good customer relations

?  Designs, tests, and implements n-tier back office software using Microsoft technologies (C#, ASP.NET, etc.)

?  Works closely with program managers to translate customer requirements into design specifications

?  Stays current with Microsoft best practices to ensure code is scalable, secure, and re-usable

?  Maintains public-facing web applications/services

?  Creates complex SQL queries to generate ad-hoc reports

?   Performs other tasks as assigned

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

?  Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline; Masters preferred

?  Strong external and internal customer orientation

?  Understanding of application development, including analysis, coding, testing, project management, and project life cycle methodologies 

?  Program experience helpful:  C#, ASP.NET, Web Services, JavaScript, XML, HTML, and Java; C++, PERL, and LDAP helpful

?  SQL Server experience helpful

?  Macromedia Flash MX helpful

?  Software: Visual Studio.NET/2005, SourceSafe, CVS, IIS, Apache, Install Shield

?  Protocols: FTP, email, HTTP, TCP/IP, Sockets, web services

?  Knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, including Windows 2000, XP, NT and Microsoft Office

?  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
