Juvenile Justice Counselor

Three Springs have been helping reunite families since 1985. We now operate 27 programs in 10 different states. Three Springs of Paint Rock Valley (30 miles from Huntsville, AL) is currently hiring for Juvenile Justice Counselors to work with our adolescent males.
Three Springs serves adolescents that struggle with behavioral and emotional problems. The counselors job is to supervise their group of residents and participate in the daily activities with them. The days are very structured but there is room for counselor creativity. The day is spent doing the following activities; school, community service projects, vocational projects, chores and recreation. This program is a short term, 3-4 month program for adolescent males with behavioral and emotional problems. The residents have been sent by the State of Alabama for minor crimes.
REQUIREMENTS
The Counselor position does require a Bachelors degree in the following fields, recreation and leisure studies, psychology, social work, sociology, criminal justice, child and family studies or other related field. We currently have Counselor positions available for immediate placement but we are also looking for future staff. If you are unable to start right away or have not yet completed your degree you can still apply. All staff must pass an initial drug test and are drug tested periodically during their employment. Applicants must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
We offer a good starting salary, great medical and dental benefits, staff housing, 401 K retirement after one year, 2 weeks paid vacation, paid training, advancement opportunities and the chance to make a difference in the life of a child. All staff start, as a Counselor and can then move up into a Counselor Supervisor position. The salary starts at $23,700 a year. Three Springs of Paint Rock Valley utilizes a counselor Career Ladder, which gives our counselors the opportunity to grow and learn and be rewarded. As a new counselor progresses through the three stages of the Career Ladder he or she will receive salary increases at each stage for their efforts.
This position is a live-in position with 12 days off a month. Counselors typically work 3-4 days on shift and then 2-3 days off.
