COUNSEL / SENIOR CONTRACTS MANAGER

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To provide quality, responsive legal support for time-sensitive, high volume, worldwide transactions and services.

Please note: A qualified Senior Contracts Manager will also be considered for this position.

This individual will report to the Director of the Global Law Network (GLN) and be a contributor within the entire GLN team.
Overall responsibilities include:
* Reviewing and negotiating confidential disclosure agreements, evaluation licenses, technology equipment loan agreements, end user license agreements, etc. * Performing legal services, such as open source freeware review and analysis and review of collateral marketing materials such as trademark, copyright, marketing law, etc.
* Working with the GLN Management Team to transition new work to the department and helping with the development of processes/policies for GLN regarding the same. Key initial strategic responsibilities will include successful partnering with the Products and Technology Law Group for the transfer of open source freeware review work to GLN and gaining expertise in negotiating and processing the licenses handled by GLN worldwide.
Training and mentoring will be provided for all of the above.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* Attorney Candidates: JD and Bar Member, an internship or transaction experience in a high tech company is a plus.

* Senior Contracts Negotiator Candidates: Completed University Degree (please indicate major). A Paralegal Certificate is a plus and 5+ years handling contracts in a high tech company

* Have a working knowledge of basic contract law and principles and be comfortable negotiating and interacting with demanding clients and customers in a solutions-oriented way

* Have strong time management, organization and prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Be adept at communicating in one-on-one and group settings and have the ability to work as part of a diverse team with different social and cultural styles and build rapport with GLN teammates, internal legal clients, internal Sun clients and Sun's customers
* Be a creative problem solver in a fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Counsel: 1-2

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: Counsel: JD; Sr. Contracts Neg: Completed University Degree

FIELD OF STUDY: Legal

ADDITIONAL COURSE WORK: Sr. Contracts Mgr: Paralegal Certificate is a plus
