RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Primary responsible for submitting annuity contract filings with state insurance departments including:
?Draft complex annuity contracts and forms and obtain internal approvals with a minimum level of supervision
?Research and evaluate individual state requirements as well as company experience with state distinctions relating to annuity contracts
?Secure State Department of Insurance ("DOI") approvals of annuity contracts in a timely manner; including the negotiating the approval of annuity contracts with State regulators in traditionally difficult states
?Analyzing new legislation as it pertains to state insurance department filings and facilitates appropriate compliance as applicable.
?Maintain applicable files, records, and status reports
?Work with Systems to implement policy forms on print systems
?Establish relationships with members of the review staff of the state insurance departments in key states and with industry colleagues
?Secondary responsibility will involve assisting the IMG Compliance Officer with operational, departmental and corporate compliance requirements including, but not limited to:
?Timely assessment and update of related state insurance, NASD, SEC, IRS and Investment Adviser policies, procedures, systems and staff licensing requirements
?Serving as a daily compliance resource to staff concerning compliance questions, policies and procedures
?Assist in review, update and corporate filing of departmental marketing material
?Serve as Unit Records Coordinator
REQUIREMENTS:
?Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
?Ability to grasp complex concepts and translate them into clear, concise written language
?Ability to meet required turnaround times and deadlines
?Strong written and verbal communication skills
?Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and risk assessment skills
?Ability to interact effectively with peers, as well as various business areas such as Claims, Actuarial, Legal and New Business to address business needs
?Strong analytical skills, with the ability to effectively identify, communicate and address potential compliance exposures
?Capable of dealing with ambiguity and frequent change
?Strong relationship building skills
?5+ years state filing experience
?Three to five year insurance contract drafting experience
?Knowledge of Annuity products
?NASD Series 7, 24, 66 or 65 and 63 strongly preferred
This opening currently resides in Springfield, MA, however as organizations and their structures evolve, locations may be reevaluated and position location may change. We are looking for candidates who have flexibility between MassMutual's two locations: Springfield, MA, Enfield, CT.
