Contracts Attorney

The Legal Directorate of Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening on its in-house counsel staff.  We are searching for a dynamic experienced attorney to join our team and provide advice and legal support to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory staff in a variety of areas with primary responsibility to be the legal advisor in the areas of contracts and procurement of goods and services.  Knowledge of Federal Government contracting, including the Federal Acquisition Regulations, is essential.  Additional primary and secondary areas of responsibility include business transactions, real estate, environmental safety and health, nuclear safety, and tax.  An understanding of the Department of Energy as well as its facilities and management and operating contractor system would be of great benefit.  The contract attorney is also expected to contribute to our dynamic and entrepreneurial culture where teamwork, flexibility and ingenuity are highly valued, and where attorneys closely support business staff.  Job responsibilities include reviewing solicitations and awards of subcontracts, exceptions to terms and conditions, advising staff on all aspects of subcontract structure and administration, reviewing CRADA?s, interagency work agreements, other sponsored research agreeements, memorandums of understanding, and all third party agreements.

- J.D. Degree and 4 - 7 years of contracting experience

- Highly developed writing and communication skills

- Strong counseling and negotiating skills

- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

- Commitment to provide quality service to clients in a professional services organization

- DOE experience strongly preferred
