Assistant General Counsel in the Legal Department.
As a member of the Legal and Regulatory Advisory group, the attorney will partner with and advise internal business and operations clients, Corporate Compliance and Legal Department colleagues, including transactional and litigation attorneys, on issues related to the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state collection laws, the federal Bankruptcy Code and Rules, the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and similar state laws, and electronic payment laws including Regulation E and Automated Clearing House (ACH) rules.

Required Skills:
Required:
? JD from a top-tier law school, and member in good standing of at least one state bar.
? 5+ years of experience in a major law firm, in-house legal department and/or federal regulatory agency with recent focus on consumer financial services generally with a substantial concentration on collection, bankruptcy and payment laws.
? Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data; able to provide innovative and well-grounded advice, balancing regulatory risks and business needs, particularly in situations where the law is unclear.
? Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently, make effective decisions and collaborate with clients.?

Preferred:
? Ideal candidate will have provided significant support to clients in the financial services industry and/or retail banking, including development and review of all aspects of consumer loan programs.
? Knowledge of stored value, prepaid and debit products.

Preference for candidate to work out of our Richmond offices, but are open to considering McLean with frequent travel to Richmond.
