Director - Compliance / Custody BUCO

Description:
This position leads Ameriprise Trust Company's (ATC) Custody Compliance program by serving as ATC's Custody Business Unit Compliance Officer (BUCO). Key responsibilities include:

Develop, implement, update, and monitor Custody compliance related policies and procedures

Integrate risk based thinking into Custody business initiatives, strategies, and services

Develop comprehensive, measurable compliance goals and metrics and drive actions to achieve them

Determine the applicability of regulatory requirements to Custody policies and procedures and integrate accordingly

Proactively identify compliance. legal, and regulatory gaps in the business and identify appropriate solutions with input from AMP Compliance

Represent Custody on all compliance issues on various committees preparing and delivering compliance oriented presentations for RVS mutual funds, Ameriprise Certificate Company, IDS Life Insurance Company, ATC individually managed accounts and RVST collective funds, AMP Compliance and management.

Follow through on custody compliance issues raised in regulatory exams and internal audits

Perform compliance oversight of Custody

Audit, review, and certify the effectiveness of Custody compliance policies and procedures to Custody business leaders and President of ATC.

Qualifications:
5 to 10 years professional work experience in the Custody industry including custody compliance experience.

Deep knowledge of Custody business operations and accompanying business risks

Demonstrated understanding of securities laws and regulations including (mutual funds) as well as other requirements that govern Custody business.

Solid understanding of risk assessment and mitigation methodologies

Ability to influence a wide variety of groups at all levels both internally across the organization (GCO, internal audit, Compliance, Certificate and mutual funds product group) and externally (external audit vendors, custody stakeholders, clients).

Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory and industry colleagues

Strong consultative and analytical skills

Ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and drive results
