Job Summary:
Position oversees the regulation process for products requiring governmental approval by ensuring that all necessary applications are filed and handling all government interactions. Develops procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Responsible for managing regulatory relationships with a broad spectrum of regulatory agencies, including Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial and SCHIP. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring considerable creativity, originality and ingenuity.
This position also provides policy direction and coordinates efforts of pertinent operating units in matters involving state and federal governments. Ensures the provision of service to the proper administration of Medicare and Medicaid contracts, and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with federal and state officials. Responsible for keeping up to date on local, regional and national affairs, policies, and legislation affecting health care and specifically, the managed care plan. Advises, develops, coordinates and directs internal policies as they relate to external affairs. Organizes, directs and ensures the compliance of all plan managed care programs with multiple State and Regulatory bodies. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring considerable creativity, originality and ingenuity.
Education and Experience:Bachelors level education in business administration or related field with a master?s degree in public policy, public health, political science, health administration or related field A minimum of 10 to 15 years of combined experience in planning, development, health policy, regulatory policy, health care consulting or managed health care, and a proven track record of leadership experience in the health care industry10+ years of progressively responsible managerial experience In-depth knowledge of government programs and the managed care industry and proven experience leading and managing regulatory affairs programs through teamwork, collaboration and open communicationDemonstrated leadership, people management and facilitative skillsExtensive experience working with key government groups, and the ability to identify and build relationships with key leaders within government health agencies and senior staff on committees that effect healthcare legislationAbility to retain confidentiality regarding privileged company informationProvide proactive approach and support to emerging business activities established to remain competitive in the marketplace
Communication and Numeric Skills:Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate clearly and grammatically both complex and simple messages to a wide audience either within or outside of the organization.
Computer Skills:Knowledge of email systems such a Microsoft Outlook sufficient to communicate with both internal and external contacts.Knowledge of Word and/or Excel sufficient to enter data, copy or cut and paste data and print results as required.Knowledge of and/or ability to utilize COGNOS for budgetary decisions or review.
