The Ethics Compliance Counsel will be a member of the Worldwide Legal Counsel Group, which supports Business Objects worldwide. This lawyer will be expected to develop strong working relationships with their fellow legal colleagues worldwide, and internal partners such as Internal Audit and Human Resources. The Ethics Compliance function deals with a broad range of tasks such as Education (prevention and policy development), Audit, and Investigation.

A significant part of the Ethics Compliance Counsel's work will focus on prevention through education development, legal training, and policy development. The Ethics Compliance Counsel will also need to spend a significant amount of time in partnering with Internal Audit to audit compliance in high-risk situations and with Human Resources and/or Finance in planning in conducting an audit or investigating a complaint.
Although prior management experience is not required for this position, the ideal candidate should exhibit the sound judgment and quick thinking that would allow him or her to grow into a management position in the future. The candidate should also exhibit a good level of knowledge and experience within Corporate Governance and Compliance. Prior in-house experience is not mandatory. The position will involve some traveling worldwide.

The Licensing Counsel should have at least 8 years or more of experience, with substantial emphasis on planning and conducting investigations. The ideal candidate would come either from a U.S. attorney or civil litigation background. The position will report to the General Counsel and also have contact with the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors.
