IP Licensing Engineer

CITY: Waukesha STATE: Wisconsin COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
GE Healthcare (GEHC) has an open position for an IP Licensing Engineer reporting to IP Licensing Counsel. The IP Licensing Engineer will need to develop a solid working knowledge of GEHC's patent and other IP rights, and will be responsible for finding and investigating potentially infringing products and services, preparing IP infringement cases against potential licensees, researching the IP rights of potential licensees, conducting defensive reviews, and supporting IP negotiations. The IP Licensing Engineer will work with GEHC engineers to investigate and reverse engineer potentially infringing products, and to obtain documentary evidence showing infringement. The IP engineer will also work with GEHC engineers to conduct defensive IP reviews to assess potential risks. The IP Licensing Engineer will support IP enforcement activity, as needed, and work with Sr. IP Procurement Counsel on strategies for creating IP that will facilitate future licensing and enforcement activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a technical degree, preferably in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics or equivalent. He/she will have a broad range of engineering experience, including a minimum of seven years experience. He/she will preferably have a good technical understanding of medical imaging, patient monitoring or medical information technology products, and the ability to quickly understand how such products work. The successful candidate will have experience working with multi-national technology teams with diverse skill sets to understand complex innovations, investigate potential infringements, and conduct defensive reviews.
