Labor and Employment Paralegal/Manager for The ServiceMaster Company?s Legal Department

Summary:

This position will be responsible for initiating, prioritizing and leading complex labor and employment law compliance and preventive projects that involve the various business units of The ServiceMaster Company. The person in this position must perform extensive legal research, draft legal documents, organize research and present information to internal clients, including but not limited to members of the Legal and Human Resources Departments. Responsible for proactively providing advice and direction to internal clients related to labor and employment laws and compliance with such laws. The candidate will have subject matter expertise in labor/employment laws, and he/she must be able to lead meetings, work independently from attorneys and seek advice as necessary.


Essential Job Functions:

1) Initiate, prioritize and lead complex employment law and preventive projects.
2) Perform extensive legal research, organize research and present information to internal clients, including but not limited to members of Legal and Human Resources Departments.
3) Provide proactive and responsive advice and direction to internal clients related to labor and employment laws and related compliance issues.
4) Initiate, draft and review company policies/procedures, training materials, employment contracts and related documents.
5) Compile research and make recommendations related to compliance with labor/
employment laws and necessary changes to company policies/procedures.
6)  Prepare and present seminars/training sessions to internal clients on relevant labor and employment law issues.
7) Regularly communicate and coordinate with outside counsel with regard to labor and employment law projects/issues.
8) Prepare and organize contracts and other legal documents
9) Maintain internal databases of current labor and employment law research and materials.
10) Communicate changes and trends in labor/employment laws to internal clients
11)  Responsible for leading meetings with internal clients
12) Travel is required.

Education/Experience:

Seeking candidate with 5-7 Years Experience in Paralegal/Manager Position with expertise in area of labor and employment laws.

Minimum: Associate?s Degree with Paralegal Certificate or Equivalent Experience.
Preferred: Bachelor?s Degree with Paralegal Certificate and/or equivalent experience with background in Labor and Employment Law.
