Legal Assistant - Bankruptcy & Litigation

Manpower Professional is currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant experienced in General Civil Litigation and Bankruptcy law to work with a top Las Vegas law firm. The successful candidate will have over 3 years of recent General Civil Litigation and Bankruptcy experience.


Primary Functions:
Transcribing and typing legal documents, correspondence and reports from rough draft, dictation or transcription at a level of 60+ wpm.
Formatting & preparing correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents to file with the court and send to clients.
Maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Drafting standard correspondence, memoranda and other documents.
Reading, sorting and dating incoming mail.
Establishing and maintaining calendar and deadline reminders while utilizing a master calendar system.
Setting appointments for assigned attorneys.
Opening new files, requesting conflict of interest checks with file room records, and maintaining all client and general files.
Conducting periodic review for possible storage of older files and preparing files to be closed.
Answering the phones and receiving clients and visitors while maintaining positive relations with clients and observing the confidentiality of attorney-client relationships.
Electronically inputting attorney timesheets on a daily basis, proofreading and correcting timesheets reports, submitting timesheet reports for attorney review, and providing appropriate supporting documentation to Accounting Department.
Working as part of a team consisting of attorney and administrative staff in accomplishing the firm goals of providing excellent legal service.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate & follow instructions.
Performing other administrative duties as needed.


Required Skills:
Minimum of 3 years experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant working in Bankruptcy and General Civil Litigation.
Transcription from either a Dictaphone or direct conversation.
Proficiency in both Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
Error-free typing skills in excess of 60 wpm.
