Librarian

Prestigious DC law firm has an exciting opening for a technical services librarian.



 

Requirements:  MLS desired although commensurate experience considered. At least 3 years of technical services experience in a law library  Also required is knowledge of current cataloging standards,  experience with automated library systems (familiarity with Camelot highly desirable), fundamental knowledge of overall technical service operations; and familiarity with legal materials. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work in a team-environment, the ability to delegate when appropriate, and the ability to take initiative. Ability to complete detailed work accurately and efficiently.

 

Primary Responsibilities:  Maintain the library print collection for both firm libraries and attorney/staff offices; includes:

?  Acquisitions

?  Cataloging of library materials

?  Serials renewals

?  Timely payment of  invoices

Troubleshoots any issues that arise with vendors.

Maintains integrity and quality control of the online library catalog;

Assists in development of policies and procedures to enhance technical service processes;

Serves as backup for others on library staff

Possible overnight travel to branch location in NY necessary
