Litigation Paralegal

CITY: Waukesha STATE: Wisconsin COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
GE Healthcare has an open position for an experienced Paralegal supporting the Litigation team and reporting to the General Counsel, Litigation. Key responsibilities include the following:
*Work closely with the General Counsel, Litigation as well as 2 other Litigation Counsels internally to provide general administrative support
*Support litigation function by administering retention of outside counsel and serving as initial legal department contact for any litigation correspondence
*Draft correspondence and amendments to litigation documents; work closely with Litigation Counsels and business units to respond to any litigation requests, preparing litigation documentation and managing files
*Manage tracking of all key litigation in process or closed, monitoring calendar of cases to meet upcoming deadlines
*Maintain all litigation files and retrieve archived files/information as requested
*Manage all types of daily correspondence to ensure timely response and appropriate prioritization
*Organize and arrange schedules for Litigation team, coordinate calendars, trip planning, travel, appointments and meetings
*Support legal department teams as back-up for other Legal administrators
*Interact with GE personnel globally at all levels as well as with global Legal team, internal business staff, and outside consulting and law firms



Qualifications/Requirements:
*Minimum of 5 years demonstrated administrative experience in a corporate or professional business environment, supporting the activities of a department/team or senior manager.
*Strong time management skills. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
*Strong oral and written English communication skills, including grammar and composition.
*Excellent PC skills with advanced level skills in all Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook Mail) and previous demonstrated experience navigating the Internet effectively.
*Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects with more than one team member simultaneously, adjusting to changing priorities and follow through on all assignments.
*Must be able to maintain security of highly confidential information-discretion and confidentiality required
*Must be able to work self-directed with an ability to multi-task
*Must be willing and able to flex work hours periodically based on business needs.
*Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background.
*Must be willing to work out of an office in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
*Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.


Desired:
*Associates degree with administrative professional coursework or paralegal certification with 5 years experience in a corporate or professional business environment supporting legal teams.
*Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines
*Previous experience using independent thought processes to plan ahead, process information, maintain workflow and anticipate future needs of the team.
*Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
*Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines
*Strong work ethic with passion for client service and quality
*High integrity: Accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
*Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse team across different time zones.
*A self-starter able to work on own initiative and well in a team environment.
*Knowledge of the GE Internet, Support Central and other relevant applications desirable with demonstrated willingness to learn new IT skills and applications for the benefit of the Legal and Litigation staff.
*Ability to accept constructive criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations. This includes continuing to persevere and remaining calm in challenging or frustrating circumstances.
