The BDO Seidman Litigation and Fraud Investigation Practice is comprised of Certified Public Accountants, Certified Fraud Examiners, former federal law enforcement professionals, specialists in computer forensics and practitioners with experience in industry accounting rulemaking bodies. These professionals provide consulting, testimony and arbitration services in the areas of corporate internal investigations, financial fraud investigations, damage analysis, post-acquisition disputes, professional liability matters, and insurance claims. Clients include major law firms, insurance companies, major corporations, and audit committees at publicly traded companies involved in complex litigation and fraud investigations across business lines.

 

The New York office of BDO Seidman, LLP serves a diverse range of private and publicly owned clients across a comprehensive array of industries including Manufacturing, Technology and Retail.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Assisting with engagements relating to accounting matters in litigation or under investigation. Interacting with high level client personnel and attorneys, as well as Federal and local government agencies. Compiling and analyzing facts to formulate substantiate and/or critique various damages theories, claims or conclusions. Assisting with investigations of individuals or groups potentially in possession of information regarding fraudulent activities. Analyzing claims and damages calculations made by opposing parties. Identifying relevant business documents in connection with estimation of damages in large civil litigation matters. Drafting reports of findings; preparing tables, exhibits and charts. Attending depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses to assist counsel with questioning. Assisting client attorneys in trial preparation and preparing expert witnesses for testimony. Assisting in the management of engagement administration, including budgeting, billing and conflict checks. Effectively motivating and utilizing staff.

 

Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance (or Economics w/ minor in other). Alternatively, a Bachelor?s degree in liberal arts or other field and an MBA or MS in a business-oriented field. Minimum 4+ years of public accounting, investigation or litigation services consulting experience. Computer skills: Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint
