Music Synchronization Licensing Specialist
A worldwide music publishing joint venture between Sony and Michael Jackson, which owns or administers copyrights and catalogues by such artists as Babyface, The Beatles, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, The Everly Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Graham Nash, Roy Orbison, Sarah McLachlan, Roger Miller, Joni Mitchell, Graham Nash, Willie Nelson, Stephen Stills, Hank Williams, and Brooks & Dunn, among others.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Music Synchronization Licensing Specialist to:
Draft and issue synchronization, merchandising, related licenses and amendments for a major music publisher
Interface with film and television licensees, ad agencies, music supervisors, music clearance companies, and attorneys regarding proposed revisions to these agreements, under the direction of SVP Film, TV, and Administration and SVP Business Affairs
Follow up on all licenses for execution and receipt of license fee
Maintain an efficient tracking system to monitor contract generation, contract execution, outstanding license fee payment
Manage extremely high volume and short turnaround time expectations
Prepare periodic summaries of license and payment status for SVP Film, TV, and Advertising and other Senior Management
Liaise with Copyright, Royalties, Accounts Payable, and other departments on all matters related to synchronization licenses
Report to the SVP Business Affairs Department, with a very strong dotted line to the SVP Film, TV, and Advertising
Supervise a staff of one or more
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree required. J.D. not required, but will be favorably considered.
5 - 7 years of music licensing/drafting experience
Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of copyright licensing and music industry contracts
Proficiency in Word and Excel required
Proficiency with Counterpoint-based systems a strong plus
Demonstrated ability to manage high volume and very quick turnaround
