About the Opportunity:

Verizon Wireless is looking for a talented mid-level contracts professional to provide a high level of support to internal clients by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating national contracts associated with the distribution channels of Verizon Wireless products and services. This position reports to the Attorney - Sales & Distribution of the Sales, Marketing & Consumer Law Group in the Legal & External Affairs Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
. Provide a high level of support to internal clients by preparing, reviewing and revising proposed contracts associated with the conduct of Verizon Wireless' distribution business. Types of contracts generated, reviewed and approved may be alternative distribution, prepaid, reseller, mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and nondisclosure agreements. Clients include the wholesale/MVNO department that is responsible for both voice and data reseller as well as the telematics contracts with major automotive industry customers.
. Advise internal clients in the wholesale channels on various legal and business risks involved in day-to-day administration of these contracts (e.g. contract amendments, letters of credit, formal notices, pricing analysis, A/R management & breach letters).
. Assist in training, enforcement of Company policies, and development of new and updated standard contracts and other templates.
. Analyze information received from clients to determine whether additional information is necessary to generate documents and obtain required legal and finance approvals. Work with clients to ensure proper terms and conditions are set forth in contracts.
. Assist in the generation, preparation and negotiation of unique contracts to be used for nationwide alternative distribution channels such as prepaid, e-commerce and distributor type agreements.
. Identify legal and business issues during contract review, proposing resolutions and negotiating issues with internal and external clients and/or their attorneys.
. Alert field personnel on contractual issues with respect to distributor/reseller contract compliance.
. Develop notification letters, amendments or contract revisions based on needs presented by internal clients.
. Assume all responsibility for contract management from initial submission of contract for legal review through return of contract to client in final form for signature.
. Work directly with Finance Department to assure internal approvals are obtained for financial consideration that impact on distribution and reseller agreements.
. Evaluate legal consequences of contracts submitted by outside parties or changes to Verizon Wireless' standard contracts suggested by outside parties, and work with clients to ascertain their needs and negotiate proposed changes with customers, vendors and/or their attorneys.

Qualifications:
. Education: BA/BS degree in related area or equivalent experience preferred.
. Work Experience: minimum of 4 years of relevant legal and/or equivalent business experience; law firm or in-house legal department experience preferred.
. Cellular industry experience preferred.
. Familiarity with distribution and/or wholesale channel and related issues.
. Experience in generating, revising and interpreting complex contracts required.
. Ability to deal with all levels of personnel, assess and analyze situations and determine appropriate action.
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
. Attention to detail.
. Ability to multi-task, and address many high priority tasks under time pressures.
. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
. Extremely strong project management skills with proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion.
. Excellent interpersonal skills.
. Highly developed analytical reasoning skills.
. Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions and the judgment to know when to seek guidance.
. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and process high volumes of work in a timely and accurate manner.
