Senior Attorney, Intellectual Property

The Senior Attorney, Intellectual Property will be responsible for handling various contract matters and counseling on matters relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include, depending on experience and expertise:Managing a busy patent and/or trademark docket, which will include counseling clients, developing filing and enforcement strategies, supervising prosecution, searching and preparing opinionsPreparing and negotiating intellectual property and research-oriented agreementsAssisting with transactions by conducting intellectual property due diligence and assisting with drafting/negotiation of transaction agreementsManaging and facilitating interaction with outside counselServing as Legal liaison for the Research & Development department activities, including participation on product development teams

 

Required Education and Experience: Minimum 5 years of law firm or corporate practice experienceBar admission in one or more states required; admittance to the US Patent Bar preferred BS degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biology is preferred; an advanced science/technical degree is highly desiredMust have demonstrated experience in a) drafting and negotiating intellectual property related agreements such as clinical trial, research and development, consulting, confidentiality, distribution, regulatory, and technology transfer agreements; and b) patent or trademark filing/prosecution, maintenance and opposition or litigation matters Contract drafting skills are requiredExperience with regard to transactional intellectual property matters, such as due diligence, ownership and licensing is preferredPreference will be given to candidates with in-depth experience and/or knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry 

 

Required Non-Technical Competencies:Ability to work effectively in a team environment is absolutely essentialMust have strong oral and written communication skills
