Senior Counsel, Clinical Systems
CITY: Wauwatosa STATE: Wisconsin COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
The Senior Counsel will be primarily responsible for providing legal leadership and strategic legal advice and compliance leadership to the Monitoring Solutions and Diagnostic Cardiology businesses of GE Healthcare Clinical Systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating strategic business agreements and transactions
- Advising the business on regulatory, privacy, antitrust and advertising/promotional matters
- Providing regulatory and compliance advice
- Creating legal forms and best practices
- Managing disputes and litigation
- Managing outside counsel, when brought to assist
- Generally applying combined business and legal judgment to proposed deals, relationships and other issues requiring legal or compliance attention.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership
- Minimum 8 years of business law experience at a premier law firm or corporate legal department, including but not limited to drafting, negotiating and closing complex business transactions (i.e. purchase, sale and distribution agreements).
- Demonstrated experience providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls.
- Demonstrated experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast paced environment.
- Prior experience using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Strong working knowledge of English language (oral and written)
- Must be willing to take a drug test
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
Desired:
- Minimum 10 years of business law experience at a premier law firm or corporate legal department, including but not limited to drafting, negotiating and closing complex business transactions (i.e. purchase, sale and distribution agreements).
- Previous exposure to medical industry regulations (FDA, Medicare/Medicaid anti-kickback) a plus
- Ability to function as an integral member of the GEHC global legal function
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization (including our field sales force, senior leadership and our customers' senior leadership teams)
- Experience and knowledge of intellectual property matters
- Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
