Downstream Legal provides the Pipelines (North America) and Logistics combined Business Unit (PLBU) with a full range of support, including corporate, commercial and regulatory counseling as well as negotiation and drafting of transactional agreements and other instruments common to pipeline acquisitions and divestitures, operations and regulation. The successful applicant should have a general knowledge of the US oil and gas industry, including the regulation of oil and gas pipelines as well as experience in the drafting and negotiating of complex transactional and other general commercial documents. 


Accountabilities Include:

Provide legal support in the nature of counseling, drafting and negotiating to the PLBU.
Provide regulatory and transactional assistance to the PLBU.
Collaborate and coordinate efforts with a number of other internal Downstream and Upstream legal teams, and with colleagues in Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, as well as outside counsel.
Perform as a team player and as an effective manager of resources, both internal and external. 


Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Senior Pipelines Attorney applicants must have:

Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
A minimum of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited Law School.
Admission or planned admission to the State of Texas Bar.
A license to practice in the State of Texas.
A minimum of 5 years of legal experience in a relevant field.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
An understanding of commercial and tariff pipeline regulation and law.
Experience in the handling the legal aspects of oil and gas pipelines transactions, operations and matters.
Significant client counseling, negotiation and transactional abilities.
The ability to be a team player, focusing on and directing the efforts of internal and external legal resources to provide critical legal support to the PLBU.
The ability to work well with clients and management to advise them on important legal aspects of operations and transactions.
The ability to demonstrate the highest professional and ethical standards and a strong commitment to attaining excellent Health, Safety, Security and Environment performance. 


Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:

A proven record of commercial awareness and delivery of legal services.
Drive, commitment, a bias for action and a preparedness to collaborate and innovate.
