17058 Engineer II, Extrusion

Job Description: Develops and optimizes processes for medical devices consisting of extruded and injection molded components fabricated from various materials.

Collaborates with research and development, process development, regulatory affairs and quality / reliability engineering to ensure successful process development under optimum conditions.

Performs engineering qualification on all new or modified equipment to test and qualify items, and to provide documented proof that operations are within established parameters.

Establishes process capabilities and baseline performance through process studies.

Uses design of experiment techniques to develop well-designed, documented experiments that are statistically meaningful and uses these standards during component development phase.

Characterizes the physical and material properties of the components, and optimizes these properties against device performance requirements.

Initiates engineering orders to revise existing documents, processes, and/or methods to correct problems or to accommodate changes in procedures.

Identifies safety, health, or environmental issues during process equipment development phase, develops solutions, and ensures compliance with good manufacturing practices.

Develops and writes validation protocols and technical reports.

Strong communication (verbal and written) and teamwork skills required.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in technical field (ChemE, Mat Sci/Eng, etc) plus 2-4 years experience in medical device or related technical field.

Experience with Six Sigma, Lean, and GMP preferred.
