Aerospace Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

      Position Summary:   The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will actively lead the manufacturing engineering functions in order to ensure department objectives are met. The objectives will be accomplished through the effective development and deployment of process improvement plans. Priorities for this position include setting the tone for the organization in line with the Achieve Global Basic Principles of Genuine Leadership, Esterline EPS Supervisory Competencies and Key Attributes, and creating an environment conducive to Lean Manufacturing achievements.

 

Primary Duties

 

? Through the utilization of Lean Methodologies actively lead initiatives to reduce department lead-time, and improve customer responsiveness by introducing initiatives that will reduce cycle time, eliminate non-value added time, and improve overall resource utilization in the assigned areas.

 

? Though the utilization of process improvement techniques actively lead efforts that will reduce scrap and rework. Continuous improvement techniques will involve statistical process control, error proofing, design of experiments, and effect preventive and corrective action implementation.

 

? Lead the development of the skill sets within the manufacturing engineering function. The development plans will include short term and long-term strategies for execution of these development plans.

 

? Establish and manage manufacturing engineering projects, including performance objectives, and regularly review performance against targets.

 

? Responsible for establishing methods to ensure that the operating budget is met.

 

? Assist in attracting, hiring, developing, and motivating all personnel required to implement the company?s manufacturing plans, programs, and strategies.

 

 

? Liaison and lead new product development activities in manufacturing; by effective project management techniques, assuring customers expectations are met within manufacturing budget.

 

? Coordinate the effective development of manufacturing tooling with outside suppliers and internal resources.

 

Secondary Duties



Assist with the planning and execution of the strategic business unit direction.

 

Identify and introduce capital equipment that will attain an improvement in direct labor efficiency and improve overall ROI factor.

 

Assist with budget development and requirements.

 

Requirements:

 

B.S in Industrial Engineering and/ or Manufacturing Engineering.

 

Ten years of manufacturing engineering supervision/management, with experience in elastomer molding.  Must have superb planning and leadership skills. Self-motivated team leader with the ability to lead improvement activities.

 

Professional ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees, deal with employee behavior and complaints, and communicate and coordinate with support departments including engineering, quality, purchasing, etc.  Bi-lingual communication abilities in English and Spanish preferred.

 

Expert working knowledge of Internet software; e.g. inventory software; manufacturing software (ManMan), electronic time reporting, and spreadsheet software, production quality systems and related manufacturing and quality documents.
