Reports To: Senior Operations Manager, Jewelry
Amazon.com is seeking an Area Manager for our high-value Jewelry Fulfillment Center in Louisville, KY. Amazon.com is one of the most recognizable brand names in the world and we distribute millions of products each year to our loyal customers from right here in Kentucky.
Our area managers are frontline supervisors that manage, control, and direct the inventory, shipping, and receiving functions. The area managers work to continuously improve the functionality and level of service that the fulfillment centers provide to our customers and to exceed departmental productivity goals.
Responsibilities:
o Jewelry experience not a requirement but would be a definite advantage to any candidate.
o Maintain a complete and thorough understanding of inventory control and systems in a Jewelry distribution center; o Implement change or develop new processes as necessary to provide the ability to better direct-ship multiple products to multiple locations; o Continually measure and evaluate all work processes.
o Lead and supervise a team of hourly associates in a specified department o Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department, o Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
o Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; resolving conflicts; staffing; and development of employees, SOPs, and productivity within the department on a day-to-day basis.
This is an intermediate-level management position that is fully accountable for the results of the group's activity. This position requires a candidate who has the ability to drive process improvements and keep pace with our explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to employee development, an understanding of Lean and Six Sigma, and a keen interest in and familiarity with WMS systems, in addition to an exceptional level of dedication, motivation, and intelligence. Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as a strong technical and analytical aptitude, are required.
A bachelor's degree or jewelry management background is required. Jewelry certifications a plus.
