Assembly Maintenance Group Leader (Plant 1st level supervisor) - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas

Provide strategic and functional support in all areas of Assembly including
Creating area strategy relative to manufacturing functions and then assisting team in translating those strategies into actions. Key focus must be placed on floor side support of Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Material Conveyance.Directing staff to ensure the production goals are met adequately and in a timely manner.Ensuring the Hoshin (Business Plan) process is completed efficiently and effectively and the activity is in alignment to support it.Ensuring that Toyota Texas (TMMTX) policies, practices, standards, and programs are consistent with Toyota North America's (TMMNA).Ensuring a diverse workforce environment.Developing a strong working relationship with the Production Team at all levels to ensure great communications and understanding of both floor side and plant issues.

Complexity
This position has a high degree of complexity.
Must be aware of the current internal climate, which requires open communication, strong relationship building skills and a very hands-on management style. Start-up a new facility. The nature of this function requires a strong network within the Plant as well as all Toyota affiliates in North America (NA) and Japan. Developing and maintaining high visibility with-in the plant, and in the community, which requires strong communication and leadership skills. Must also have a high degree of confidence and ability to handle highly visible sensitive situations.Developing the annual Area Hoshin, with focus to meet or exceed all company goals and objectives. This is a complex process that reaches across the TMMTX organization. This also includes developing executive presentations which are highly visible.Managing functions which vary greatly, in nature, and have impact across the entire TMMTX organization. Requires both strategic planning and relationship building skills.Handling Technical, Non Technical Production, and or Team Member related issues is an essential part of this position.

Promptly identify and analyze manufacturing process related problems. Analysis must be comprehensive and detailed. Make decisions/recommendations and take prompt action.Develop and implement efficient team member focused process control systems. Must ensure continuous improvement of those systems.
Inside/Outside Relationships
Excellent leadership, communication and facilitation skills are required due to the need to:
Establish and maintain a strong community network in keeping with the TMMTX and Toyota cultures. Network includes internal TMMTX team, other North America Manufacturing Companies (NAMC) and its suppliers as well as the community.Establish strong Team Member Relations at all levels.Must be able to foster strong partnerships with other managers. Previous automotive manufacturing experience required. Collaborate and ensure alignment with TMMTX and TMMI related to pre-production / Pilot issues and projects.


Education and General Experience
Bachelors or Technical Degree or equivalent related experience. 3 to 5 years Automotive Manufacturing experience required.Experience required in Assembly MaintenanceHR knowledge and experience a plus.Production supervisory experienceCross-functional understanding of Automotive Manufacturing required.Project management experience required.Japanese cultural understanding is a plus. Must have high business ethics.
Travel Expectations
As high as 30% during first two years including visits to TMMNA, TMMI, NAMCs and various external suppliers.Visits to Japan / Toyota Manufacturing Corporation (TMC) are also required.
Toyota Experience
Understanding of Toyota concepts, including the Toyota Production System and Kaizen preferred.
Software
Excellent Microsoft office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.Working knowledge of the internet and search engines.
