The American Diabetes Association has an opportunity for a high energy professional within our Marketing and Communications Division. This position will provide communications support to Communications staff in the 10-13 markets across the country to enhance local market media sponsorship opportunities by:

*Focusing on the top markets with Communications staff to enhance promotional efforts
*Working with local market communications staff to develop annual strategic Marketing and Communications plan
*Creating communications tools and resources for staff across the country to support local market public relations activities
*Developing a consistent Communications Road Show
*Working with local market staff to obtain more field input into the development of materials to support two key ADA public awareness campaigns (American Diabetes Alert Day and American Diabetes Month)
*Working on Special Projects/Committees

The Associate Director will also serve as the Communications staff person on National Committees and function as the liaison between the Online Department and Internal Communications for cohesive communication throughout the organization. This position reports to the Managing Director, Communications. Incumbent will also have close working relationships with the Assistant Director, Broadcast Production in the Communications Division, as well as local market Communications Directors and Executive Directors.


*Bachelors Degree required. (English, Communication or Journalism majors preferred)
*Must have 4-5 years of Communications experience, preferably supporting remote and varied locations
*Ability to travel to the National Office for meetings and various projects at least 3 -4 days a month
*Ability to travel to local markets to support current Communications staff as well as training of new staff 2 times a month
