Business Development Manager

SUMMARY:

 

Sells products and services offered by our client to new and existing customers, by matching the needs of the customer to the capabilities of the company.

 

WAGE TYPE:  Salaried Exempt

FLSA Exemption: Administrative Exemption

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

 Makes sales contacts, research customer needs and develop application products and services in an effective manner by:

 

o  Direct sales calls upon new and existing customers

 

o  Developing sales leads by prospecting and making cold calls on potential customers

 

o  Following up on marketing leads by telephone and with on site sales calls

 

o  Perform a shared value assessment of new prospects

 

o  Provide the quotation department with accurate customer specifications information for pricing purposes

 

o  Interface with Project Integration and the customer for the proper introduction of parts to the production floor, prior to full production

 

o  Develop an ongoing team relationship with the Customer Service Department for maintenance of key accounts and market information

 

 Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales in a professional and effective manner by:

 

o  Presenting sales and marketing proposals for customers on products and services

 

o  Make regular sales calls to develop relationships and follow-up on new projects and/or leads

 

 Participate in sales forecasting and planning in an effective manner by:

 

o  Developing and maintaining long and short-term sales plans

 

o  Producing regular reports of sales progress to upper management of the company

 

o  Developing knowledge of strategic plans and procedures to coordinate market plans within the assigned region.

 

o  Develop, monitor, and analyze sales data on a monthly basis for planning purposes

 

o  Work closely with the Marketing Department to determine new technology, market trends, and new leads

 

o  Develop, in conjunction with the Marketing Department, promotional materials that target identified markets and or customers

 

 Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers, by communicating openly, honestly and constructively, treating all employees with dignity, respect and courtesy



ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

 

 Reports to:  Member of Senior Management



QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.



Education and/or Experience:

 

Expected:  Bachelor?s Degree from a four-year college or university and 5 years sales experience in manufacturing

 

 

Communication Skills:

 

 Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.

 

 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Other Skills:

 

 Corrected vision and dexterous use of both hands.

 

 Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

 Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.

 

 Possess interpersonal skills and good organizational skills

 

 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form
