Bench Repair Technician

An opportunity to join our Themo Electron RM&SI team in West Columbia, SC for a Bench Repair Technician is now open.

Summary: Technician will troubleshoot and repair radiation measurement and protection instruments on a board and component level. Perform instrument calibrations as well as provide technical support via the phone to customers.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
? Responsible for testing and troubleshooting portable instruments and sub-assemblies; Perform instrument calibrations; Collect and report on failures and enter such data on repair worksheets; Generate quotations and provide them to customers on the cost of the repair; Obtain customer approval of work performed upon completion; Complete and maintain repair records; Identify opportunities for process improvements and suggest changes; Provide internal and external customers with technical support via the phone; Report results of any non-conformance issues to appropriate manufacturing supervisor with copy to Service Leader; Present service offerings to existing and potential customers

Skills/Abilities Required:
Must have proficiency in systems and board level electronic and mechanical troubleshooting; High level of computer skills including operating systems, MS Access, Excel, Word and Outlook; Skilled with computer hardware repair and configuration; Ability to troubleshoot complex systems by phone and portray a professional and friendly image to the customer; Excellent customer skills including ability to deal with a broad range of internal and external customers; Desire to work in a service environment; Self motivated, independent, strong work ethic; Consistent drive for process improvement


Qualifications for position:
? Electronics Certification, AS technical degree, or Military Training
? Minimum of 3 years Service Repair experience
? Experience in instrumentation service and applications
