Buyer/Purchasing - Raw Material

A critical need has been identified at the plant level for a Technical Buyer/Purchasing Engineer who has the ability to identify key purchasing related issues and then apply problem solving skills to creatively resolve complex procurement related issues within the automotive industry.

Essential Job Duties Include:


? Coordinate with Sales and Marketing Department to analyze demand for current and future products.

? Evaluate market demand, including worldwide market demand as appropriate, and develop commodity procurement strategy to support business requirements.

? Make proposal, including all support date, regarding procurement strategy to Corporate management.

? Evaluate, select and administer suppliers to support commodity procurement strategy, including cost reduction objectives.

? Negotiate with suppliers and make decisions to continue or resource commodity.

? Analyze direct material cost drivers, including product design and manufacturing processes, and support SDE and supplier companies to achieve cost reduction targets.

? Participate in and contribute achievable cost reduction ideas to the design review process.

? Obtain and track supplier cost reductions to meet operation plan goals.

? Solicit, develop and implement supplier va/ve projects.

? Support supplier quality improvement.

? Enforce supplier related problem solving/corrective action.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

? Bachelor of Science

 

? Seasoned professional with 2-5 years of purchasing experience, ability to assume responsibility for entire projects, and provide general guidance and training to less experienced buyers and support employees.

? Ability to function successfully with considerable latitude. Requires technical guidance only on unusually complex problems or issues.

? Comprehensive knowledge of material management and procurement function. Professional certification is a plus but not required.

? Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word and Access.

? Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

? Ability to work in a participative management environment and maintain a drive for accomplishment of responsibilities.
