Summary of Duties:This engineer shall work closely together with the production manager and with the engineering department to maintain and improve a high level of production practices The detector department in Meriden, Connecticut develops and produces detectors to measure nuclear radiation. These detectors are manufactured from semi-conductor materials: highly purified germanium for the detection of gamma radiation.The market for these detectors is growing, a.o. due to the renaissance of nuclear power and due to increasing needs for Homeland Security. Essential duties are:-Identify and solve process or design problems,-Coordinate technical matters with the other CANBERRA detector factories (USA, France and Belgium).-Proactively seek ways to -improve manufacturing processes-decrease cost of production and products-speed up deliveries-speed time to market of new products-improve supply chain-Introduce newly developed products from engineering-Introduce and automate in-line QC, QR and testing Education/Training:BS Degree in Industrial Engineering (electronics, semi-conductors, ...)5 years of experience in a production environment, preferably in a semiconductor lab. Skills/Knowledge:Candidates MUST have:-Good understanding of semiconductor physics, electronics and mechanics.-Ability to find practical solutions to problems.-Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control and yield processes.-Understanding of Ion Implantation and vacuum processing-Good organizational skills,-Self motivation, a team player, with ability to take initiative-Strong customer service orientation, Other:-ability to travel frequently in Europe and USA (up to 20% of time) Location:  Meriden, CT
