CNC LATHE PROGRAMMER

Job Purpose:

Produce machined lathe parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) LATHE. 
 

Duties:

* Program close tolerance aerospace parts from blue prints, verbal instructions,sketches etc...


* Manage six CNC lathes; Yasnac, Fanuc controls, overseelathe department.


* Set-up lathes by installing chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings.


* Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; machine first part of job run. 


* Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and threading operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.


* Maintain equipment by preventive maintenance; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.


* Maintains continuity among workers by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.


* Documents actions by completing production and job traveler.



 

Skills/Qualifications:

Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation,  Tooling, Coordination,  Attention to Detail, Judgment.

 

Bilingual:

English / Spanish, preferred but not absolutely necessary.
