CPT Gen Opr Chem

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Operate equipment and perform manual tasks according to established procedures. Move between the areas of Chemical Operations as need to meet production needs, to work off backlogs or to cover manpower shortage. Assist other operators as instructed by department Team Manager. Assist in troubleshooting or problems solving with experienced operators.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Varies among the areas within Chemical Operations.

MATERIALS: Varies among the areas within Chemical Operations.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS: May assign routine work to lower level employees.

WORKING PROCEDURES:

CONVERSION
1. Package UO2 powder from the conversion process, maintaining item control.
2. Download U02 powder from bulk containers to polypacks, maintaining item control.
ADU RODS
1. Scrap fuel rods, maintaining item control.
IFBA
1. Operate the sand blaster.
2. Perform the acid stripping process, only for coated pellets to be scrapped (not for pellets to be recoated).
3. Remove the screen from IFBA coater fixtures.
4. Load/Unload pellets into/from coater fixtures.
URRS
1. Operate the Assay Meters, Metal Detector, Honing Booth, Ultrasonic Cleaning System, Parts Washer, Shredder and Sorting Hood.
2. Disassemble HEPA filters.
3. Clean and re-valve UF6 cylinders.
4. Receive, unpack, repackage and ship recycled material and/or containers including generation of appropriate records.
PELLETING
1. Perform powder prepping.
2. Operate the press, sintering furnaces and grinder.
3. Stack blanket pellets.
4. Perform D&V inspection of pellets.
ALL AREAS
1. Oxidize uranium-bearing materials in oxidation ovens.
2. Clean filter presses and change cartridge and bag filters.
3. Screen debris from uranium-bearing materials.
4. Perform housekeeping including mopping, manual wiping and painting and other routine duties as assigned.
5. Clean parts and equipment prior to maintenance work or disposal.
6. Perform item control transactions and audits.
7. Adhere to accountability, criticality, safety, security, and hygiene procedures.
8. Assist operators in performing routine duties as assigned.
9. Complete training as required.
10.Move product and/or materials as directed by others.
11.Assist other operators as directed by team manager or higher level operator.
12.Perform any other work specifically assigned by the Manager.

PREREQUISITES

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to complete job related tests.
0-6 months manufacturing experience.
Complete interview process.

Must be able to follow and execute procedures perfectly.
