We are currently reviewing resumes for the position of Chemistry Production Technician. This position will work in our newly established Nanomaterials Prototyping, Testing and Characterization Facility at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology?s Polymer Processing Center (SDSM&T-PPC) in Rapid City, South Dakota. Zyvex-South Dakota will initially manufacture pilot-scale quantities of Zyvex?s NanoSolve? material as well as produce and characterize new nanomaterial-based products. The material is used to make carbon fiber composite structures even stronger and stiffer, and is finding significant acceptance in the high performance sporting good market.
Chemistry Technician ? South Dakota
This position is responsible for any task related to the testing, development, prototyping and manufacture of products in the South Dakota Zyvex facility. Tasks include using standard operating procedures to make intermediates, subassemblies, or completed products as well as proposing and verifying improvements to those procedures. Tasks also include quality control and assurance, inspection of raw materials, and maintaining meticulous and thorough records of their work. The position is also responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the production workspace and equipment in a safe and environmentally conscious way. The Technician will also participate in production meetings and may be assigned by their Manager to transition products from development to manufacturing status.
Educational Requirements:
Associates Degree in science or engineering-related discipline
Required Experience:
At least 6 months of experience working in a development oriented environment
At least 6 months of experience working in a laboratory or production environment
Experience working with polymer processing and characterization equipment is a plus
Required Skills:
Ability to follow standard operating procedures
Clear understanding of proper chemical safety & handling procedures as well as familiarity with laboratory & electrical safety
Ability to work with high precision mechanical components
Reliable individual with strong work ethic
Detail-oriented and Quality conscious
Fluency in English: reading, writing and speaking
Organized, self-starter, willing to learn, team player
