The ESH Manager will report to the Allied Barton Site Account Manager and serve as a liaison to the Client Operations Manager. The ESH Manager will develop and implement policies and procedures that promote safe practices and environmental compliance at the client facility. The ESH Manager will maintain and manage a pro-active safety program that ensures compliance through training and certification of employees.
The ESH Manager will plan, organize and direct the Allied Barton safety, health and training programs for all site personnel by managing a safety first program to protect employees and create enhancements to existing programs and standards. He/She will coordinate staff activities and operational sections to ensure safety requirements are integrated into the organization?s site specific programs; and direct and manage the safety of site personnel performing services including:
?Security Services (patrol units, active manufacturing buildings and gate officers),
?Hazmat/Decontamination Services (hazardous materials cleanup, waste neutralization, confined space entry, asbestos abatement, mold abatement, and waste/recycling support)
?Support Personnel
The ESH Manager will participate in formulating policy and procedures at the management level utilizing a thorough knowledge of Federal, State and local safety and health regulations to ensure that all site activities are performed according to regulatory requirements and client expectations. The ESH Manager will focus on preventing accidents/near misses, meeting/exceeding customer?s expectations, and continuous improvement. They will develop, maintain, schedule and conduct training and safety education programs in compliance with regulatory, corporate and site specific training requirements for a 24/7 staff of approximately 120+ personnel; and identify safety training needs and develop and coordinate their execution.
The ESH Manager will also perform prevention inspections, surveys and program evaluations to identify areas/items that could result in injuries, accidents, or manufacturing interruptions; conduct routine safety inspections to include Job Hazard Analysis?s on activities performed to ensure proper selection of PPE, equipment and ensure safe working conditions; and investigate every incident and near miss to include the preparation and submittal of required reports, facilitating Likes-Concerns-Suggestions process, root-cause-analysis process and produce action plans to minimize the potential for reoccurrence.
An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns demand constant attention. The ESH Manager is the primary Allied Barton safety representative over site activities including responding to and coordinating hazmat response/decontamination operations, emergencies and critical events/projects associated with Allied Barton operations as necessary (24hours/day, 7 days/week).
The ESH Manager will attend various customer project meetings that impact Allied Barton operations, work and staffing allocation and to ensure expectations are clearly defined; and must possess the ability to effectively deal with other people, especially other company and client personnel to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory and Allied Barton requirements.
College degree in an appropriate discipline with 2-5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the management of ESH programs, hazmat/decontamination services and training to promote a reduction in injuries, illness and/or other related safety indices. CSP, CET or other industry certifications a plus. Knowledge is mandatory of fundamentals of safety education, public speaking, accident prevention, human factors, industrial hygiene principles and risk management. Extensive knowledge is required in PPE selection and use as well as an in depth understanding of chemical properties, hazard classes, compatibilities, reactions, protective measures and environmental impacts.
Additional necessary competencies include proficient interpersonal skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams, computer use -- utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Internet, Outlook, and other electronic reference resources.
Work with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
