Position Summary:

 

Develops competitive AVL from existing supplier base and new suppliers. Coordinates purchasing activities with a variety of departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manor through excellent supplier relationships that support the objectives of the corporation.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Obtains materials from global suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability or source, and urgency of need.  

Studies market trends, interviews vendors, conduct supplier audits, analyses and determines appropriate sources of supply.  

Prepares requests for quotation, analyzes received quotations, selects vendors, and schedules deliveries to fulfill requirements.  Supervises preparation of orders and follows up to ensure appropriate delivery, quality, and price.  

Obtains necessary certifications/documentation from vendors and conducts checks against orders.  
Checks and approves invoices for orders placed.  

Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation.

Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate

Works closely with internal departments including Engineering, Marketing, Quality, and Field Operations.  

Issue purchase orders, contracts, and agreements.

Communicate defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.

Maintain cost, on time delivery, material quality, and supplier performance records of items or services purchased.

Work with Receiving and Accounting to resolve invoice/receiving discrepancies and maintain accurate records.

Manage the follow-up and expediting of supplier deliveries.

 

Education:

 

High School Degree or GED is required,
College, field of study is preferred

 

Preferable Qualifications & Experience:

 

Requires a minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience. College degree preferred.

 

Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

Must be flexible and able to work in a busy, multitasking environment.

Strong negotiation skills.

Must be resourceful and dependable in order to meet immediate deadlines.

Knowledge of computerized purchasing system.

Knowledge of inventory control procedures.

Must have excellent organizational and customer service skills.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
