Continuous Improvement Technician 

 

General Description:

 

Plans, directs and coordinates processes to improve the efficiency of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel.  Provide direction and training to teams and plant in lean manufacturing processes, waste reduction, productivity gain and cycle time reduction.  Provide strategic recommendations to senior management to reduce the waste of resources and time, and to improve productivity.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 Develop projects of higher safety, productivity and quality for operator utilization, space requirements, and production flow improvements.Simplify production methodsUses knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards to improve production efficiency. Identify opportunities and implement Poke yoke, SMED, KANBAN, JIT, and root cause analysis techniques.Improve labor utilization by facilitating new methods of production, new work flows, new operator techniques, and capital spending with work team.Test new methods, work flows, operator techniques, and capital with work team.Analyze results and recommend implementation of new production methods, work flows, operator techniques, and capital with work team.Minimizes cost by assessing production costs and production schedules. Consults with design staff concerning product and tooling design to ensure efficient production.Assists management in establishing production performance statistics, cost analysis techniques, financial plans, wage and salary administration and job evaluations; and aides to estimate future requirements and potential.Coordinates with vendors to determine product specifications, arranges purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to quality standards.Forecasts production time, staffing requirements, production scheduling, manufacturing capability and the costs that are related.Maintain excellent team working relationship among all employees.Perform other responsibilities as required.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Minimum Requirements: 

 2-4 years collegeKnowledge of lean principles2-4 years of manufacturing experienceExperience working in an industrial/mechanical production setting.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in meeting and implementing OSHA requirements.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.Demonstrated abilities to multitask and to concentrate on multiple variables are.Must be able to work independently.Experience facilitating a team environment.

 

Desired not Required:

 Supervisory experience 2-4 years of La-Z-Boy production experience
