Contract-to-hire Buyer

Manpower Professional has an opportunity for a plant manager purchasing professional. This key role involves working directly with suppliers and internal customers to ensure delivery of component materials in compliance with our client's standards of quality, cost and delivery. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Manage daily plant raw materials purchasing process; inform accounting of changes to raw materials costs; maintain plant part information databases; review raw materials rejects and follow up with suppliers; review late shipments; provide miscellaneous support to plant's senior buyer, review supplier performance and drive improvement plans.
We are looking for 3+ years experience with buying and a successful track record with application of material resource planning (MRP) process and systems. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to read blueprints and possess strong problem-solving abilities. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong knowledge of MS Office are required, as is demonstrated understanding and abilities to use TQMS tools and techniques. You must be a team player who has the ability to work with multiple departments. Understanding and knowledge of lean and six sigma practices as well as experience in manufacturing, distribution and/or planning roles is highly desired. Proven experience in a lean manufacturing environment using kanban supermarkets is preferred.
