This position is responsible for managing and delivering the Datawarehouse requirements for the JCI Battery Division.  Our Datawarehouse Solutions span across Sales, Manufacturing, Finance and Forecasting.  The Datawarehouse Architect needs to have a demonstrated ability to understand and define Datawarehouse Architected Solutions for Sales, Finance, Manufacturing and Forecasting systems. The position requires a demonstrated ability to manage Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing Projects. Strong communication and administrative skills are a must.

 

As Datawarehouse Architect you will work with IT and Business management to lead Datawarehouse projects.  You will have direct responsibility and control of defining project scope & objectives, delivering to customer timelines, and estimating resource and budget requirements. This position is extremely collaborative and requires a confident and competent person who leads by example; someone who continually raises the bar on quality, design, attitude, enthusiasm, and accountability. This position includes the daily management of multiple projects and supervision of both contractors and JCI personnel. The position requires a strong self-starter who can deliver consistently at a tactical level. Strong communications and administrative skills are a must. This is considered a leadership position and as such the person chosen must demonstrate the ability to be promoted into positions of greater authority

 

 

Typical Duties:

 

Responsibilities:Lead Datawarehouse project planning efforts and manage DW projects to a successful conclusion Lead and Manage Datawarehouse Technical Team. Project estimationMaintain communications with Source System Experts and End-customers to ensure systems continually meet or exceed our customers’ expectations Ensure customer acceptance by soliciting their input on requirements, design and testing validation Design / Maintain Datawarehouse Logical Datamodels. Prepare Technical Specifications, Testing Plans, Project Status reports, Staffing Plans and other materials appropriate to facilitate project reviews as required by JCI’s Systems Development Lifecycle. Coordinate and review the end-to-end testing of Datawarehouse applications Identify infrastructure requirements for Business Intelligence Tools ( Cognos / Datastage ) Approve Database, ETL, Cognos and Web architecture components. Attend and lead project team and departmental meetings. Provide individual and project status reports to supervisor. Interfaces with other information systems departments to provide technical expertise. Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance technical skills, communications skills, business knowledge, and knowledge of information systems products and procedures. Manage off-shore or near-shore development teams.

 Additional responsibilities:Night time and weekend support rotation.  1 week of rotation every 10 weeks.  Note:  This support rotation includes all of our production applications (not just Datawarehouse).Occasional overnight travel and non-traditional work hours.
 



Technical Experience:

 5-7 years experience in Business Intelligence SolutionsStrong Knowledge of Dimensional Modeling Concepts.Strong knowledge of ETL tools. (Datastage preferred)Knowledge of business intelligence tools. (Cognos preferred)Experience with dashboard tools and web interfacing.A proven background in relational database design.In depth understanding of RDBMS systems. (Oracle, Progress, SQL)Skilled in the use of application methodology and life cycle management.Business process modeling and requirements definitionStrong SQL, PL/SQL skills in an Oracle 8i/9i environmentIn Depth understanding of multidimensional database architectureStrong analytical and problem solving skillsExcellent verbal and non-verbal communication skillsSuccessful project and team leadership including but not limited to: daily task assignments, issue resolution, status reporting and resource allocationExperience in the following areas:OLAP business feasibility analysisMulti-dimensional design reviewsBusiness Intelligence tool selectionBusiness model prototypingDatabase tuning and optimizationPlatform migrationExperience in production support environment

Education

 

Bachelor’s / Master’s  degree in Computers, Business or comparable field

5-7 years of experience in developing Business Intelligence solutions  with Cognos PowerPlay Transformer
